Open the file with Silhouette Studio software (included in delivery of Portrait and Cameo cutters) and scale to size. It's best to display the cutting edges (red frame) to make sure all parts of the design are within the cutting area.
Control the cutting settings in the software and on the cutter itself. Go to printing instructions to see the correct settings for each vinyl. Place the vinyl in the cutter with the matt side facing up. You can do that with or without the cutting mat. Just make sure to select the corresponding drawing in settings on the cutter. We are using HappyFlex black for the outlines. This way of cutting and printing is ideal to use up those scraps of vinyls because the picture is made up of many little pieces ;)
– Even if it doesn't look like it in the photo, it's still HappyFlex black ;) – It's best to weed one part after the other with this design. To not get confused, it is helpful to only weed the part that will next get a different colour.
You can find a different method to only cut certain parts of a design here.
Better safe than sorry: overlay the pieces to make sure you got everything.
If you are not sure wether two colours look good together, simply put differnet colours next to the weeded parts to make your decision easier. For our picture we decided for HappyFlex light orange.
That's it for the bottom part of the design. We now use HappyFlock lemon to get a special look and that suede feel.
Got the hang of it? Then just continue until you have all your parts together!
We also used HappyFashion Foil to create a special effect. Just read on to learn how that works.
As always pre-iron the garment to eliminate residual moisture and creases.
Start with the part that is supposed to get this special effect. Step 1: Print the light blue HappyFlex on the garment.
You can use the vinyl smooth as it is delivered or crumbled up to get a somewhat "grungy" look.
Step 2: Put the smooth or crumbled up vinyl with the matt or motif side facing up on the blue flex vinyl.
Fashion Foil can be used until there is no more colour left on the carrier.
Next we print the outlines we cut from HappyFlex black.
